MEET THE BOARD
Shayna Kaplan, N’siah (President)
Shayna Kaplan is a Senior at Hopkins High School. Shayna has been in Chabibi since it first started in 2018 and is by far one of our most dedicated members. Our N’siah, Shayna, is incharge of overseeing all things Chabibi. Shayna has also held positions such as chair of programming, Chabibi VP of Programming, and this is her second term as Chabibi N’siah. Shayna has attended 3 regional conventions and 1 international convention. Shayna loves Chabibi because of all of the amazing friendships she has made that she knows will last a lifetime! Outside of BBYO, Shayna is on the board for the Girls United MN chapter at Hopkins, is the Yearbook Production Editor for the Hopkins High School yearbook, and is in ProPEL (Professionals Providing Experiences For Life) at Hopkins High School.
Mel Goldstein, S'ganit
(VP of programming)
Mel Goldstein is a Junior at Wayzata High School. Mel focuses on executing programs that our members will want to attend. Prior to being elected to the board, Mel was a Chabibi chair position. Mel loves Chabibi because it is full of such supporting and loving girls which makes for a great community! Outside of BBYO, Mel plays volleyball for Wayzata and Minnesota select and is on the board for the Girls United MN chapter at Wayzata. In her free time, Mel also loves to hangout with friends, bake with her mom, and shop.
Tessa Hoffman, MIT mom
(VP of Membership and sisterhood)
Tessa Hoffman is a Sophomore at Hopkins High School. Tessa focuses on making big/little sisters, recruiting new members, and making sure Chabibi is a welcoming environment for anyone wanting to be involved. Tessa wants every girl to feel that they have a place and purpose in Chabibi. Tessa plans on going on a BBYO Passport trip to Italy and Israel this summer. This is Tessa’s first time being on the Chabibi board and she hopes to continue on the board throughout the rest of high school. Tessa loves Chabibi for the ability to connect to her Judaism and the close sisterhood which builds forever bonds! Outside of BBYO Tessa spends most of her time at work or focusing on school work, but in her free time she loves being around friends and family.
Bella Kaplan, Sh’licha
(VP of Judiasm)
Bella Kaplan is a Senior at St. Louis Park High School. Bella is responsible for incorporating all things related to Israel and Judaism into Chabibi and for helping our beloved BBG’s strengthen their connection to Judaism and Israel as a whole. Bella has always felt a strong connection to Judaism and Israel and wants to help give others the space to build their own connections. Bella went on a BBYO Passport trip to Israel and Europe during Summer 2019 and has also attended 1 international convention. Bella loves Chabibi because of the community it fosters for young Jewish women. Outside of BBYO, Bella is on her school student council and does lots of volunteer work.
Drew Kuretsky, Com Mazkirah (VP of communications)
Drew Kuretsky is a Senior at Henry Sibley High School. Drew facilitates communication for the entire chapter, writes emails to families, and writes the content you see on this website. Drew went on a BBYO Passport trip to Israel and Europe during Summer 2019 and has also attended 1 regional convention and 2 international conventions. Drew loves Chabibi because it has allowed her to make lifelong Jewish friends. Outside of BBYO, Drew plays hockey, softball, and volleyball for her highschool.
Julia Kibort, Safranit Mazkirah
(VP of social media)
Julia Kibort is a Junior at Minnetonka High School. Julia joined Chabibi when it was first established in 2018 and has been an active chair and board member since. Julia’s position as Safranit Mazkirah makes her the VP of social media meaning she manages the Chabibi instagram, tik tok, and now, website. Julia has held the Safranit Mazkirah position for 3 terms now and she loves spending time with all of the friends that she has made through Chabibi. Outside of bbyo, Julia spends lots of her time volunteering and has even started her own Bat- Mitzvah dress drive called Mitzvah Couture which helps give soon-to-be Bat Mitzvahs access to fancy dresses free of charge. Julia is in DECA, which is a business program and has been actively participating in other clubs such as Be The Change, Unicef, and is an IB Diploma Candidate. Julia hopes to contine to be the Safranit Mazkirah as she loves everything she does and wouldn’t know what to do without Chabibi.
Rachel Stein, Gizborit (Treasurer)
Rachel Stein is a Senior at St. Louis Park High School. As Gizborit, Rachel is in charge of managing our chapter funds, fundraising, and creating Chabibi merchandise. Rachel fell in love with BBYO when she went on her BBYO Passport trip to Italy and Israel in Summer 2019. Rachel loves Chabibi because it allows her to feel more connected to her Jewish identity. Outside of BBYO, Rachel is the Sales Editor of the St. Louis Park High School yearbook and is on her school gymnastics team.
